About Tim...
Tim Satryan is a woodwinds instrumentalist, originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. A “woodwinds doubler,” he is proficient on multiple clarinets, saxophones, and flutes, as well as a Yamaha WX5 and an Akai EWI 5000.
He studied extensively with Henry Marconi and Nestor Koval of the Paris Conservatory, and is a graduate of Duquesne University’s Pappert School of Music. He has been teaching woodwinds for over 40 years, in Pennsylvania, Missouri, Delaware and New Jersey. He has taught all levels of woodwinds from beginners through advanced, with many of his students advancing to district, regional and all-state bands.
Fast Facts...
- He is a past performing member of the Springfield Symphony Orchestra
- He is a graduate of Duquesne University Pappert School of Music and Evangel University
- He is also an ordained minister and has pastored churches in Pennsylvania, Maryland, New Jersey and Delaware!
- His favorite music is jazz!
- He is currently accepting new students, and teaches at The Listening Booth in Lewes, Delaware.
- He teaches instrumental music in order to invest in the next generation of musicians
One of his interesting memories is playing with Benny Goodman, and being personally invited to play Mr. Goodman’s clarinet!
He is involved in both sacred and secular music, as well as classical and jazz.
He can play anything written, but is equally comfortable playing "by ear."
He also plays "electronic wind instruments!"

Philosophy of Music Education...
Tim believes that learning to play a musical instrument is something that helps a person on multiple levels.
As they study music, they also gain math skills, develop new physical abilities, learn a new language, and gain an appreciation for history.
Most students will never make a career out of music – however, what is gained from studying music will last for a lifetime!
